Although this is by no means a definitive list by any means it represents a beginning into research about Leo� Jan�ček. The various articles in the New Grove (2nd ed.) on Jan�ček are extensive and excellent. Articles in opera programmes and journals can be enlightening, as well as the disc notes to the various recommended recordings on this site. Sometimes the scholarship can be more up to date, due to obvious costs in producing larger volumes of articles or texts. Of course the most extensive list of publications in the English language are by John Tyrrell. Of all these, the reader and researcher may wish to start with Jan�ček�s Operas: A Documentary Account (London: Faber, 1992), which charts the compositional progress of the operas right to their first production and beyond through contemporary written evidence - both by the composer and those around him.
