Leos Janacek

This website was created in 2002 and is dedicated to providing information about the Czech composer Leoï¿½ Janï¿½ček (1854-1928). His most important contribution to the history of music was his nine operas, they are, at last, becoming part of the international repertoire. With increasing amounts of vivid scholarship both his private life and his public works are being brought out into the open. A foundation for the preservation of his artefacts has been set up; there is now an enviable discography of his works; opera houses worldwide recognise the emotional power of his work, however no specialised website for information about Janï¿½ček's work existed when I created the site. This site will hopefully provide this much needed resource. We hope you enjoy visiting the site.
