The publication of such a large biography is a huge and risky undertaking for any publisher. Subventions are needed and, in the case of volume 1, was found through the generosity of The Czech and Slovak Music Association of America and the Erna V. Fischer Trust Endowment for Czech Music at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Department of Music.

To provide a similar subvention for volume 2, I need thirty subscribers who would be prepared to pay �100 (or equivalent). Each subscriber would get a free copy, post free, of volume 2 (which will be at least the same size as volume 1, and is at present estimated to sell for �60). If you like, I would be happy to sign it and write any message in it that you require. If your subscription request and payment arrives before 15 May 2007 I would list your name among the list of subscribers.
